How to read the consensus panel without gambling

LazyChart's consensus panel runs every strategy on your current chart and shows the tally: how many say BUY, HOLD, or SELL. It's one of the most misused features in any signal tool, so it's worth being clear about what it is and isn't.

What it tells you

When most strategies agree, conditions are clean and one-directional. When they're split, the market is mixed, different methods are seeing different things, which is itself information: it usually means chop, and chop is where accounts die.

What it is not

It is not a majority vote to obey. 'Ten strategies say BUY' does not make BUY correct, those strategies overlap and can all be wrong together in the same conditions. Treating consensus as a green light is just a fancier way of gambling.

The disciplined use

Pick one strategy, follow its rules, and use consensus only as a filter: when your strategy fires but consensus is badly split, that's a reason to size down or sit out. The goal is consistency, not chasing whichever indicator looks best this hour.

Educational content only, nothing here is financial advice, and no strategy or concept guarantees a profitable outcome. Trading involves substantial risk of loss.
